Colm Scully is a Poet and Poetry Film Maker from Cork Ireland. 

His films have been shown, and won awards, internationally.

His poetry is published in many anthologies and magazines.

He is available to make Poetry Films or conduct workshops on Poetry Film/Video Poetry.

About

Formerly a chemical engineer, Colm now spends his time writing and interpreting poetry through film.

Poetry:  His second collection - Neanderthal Boy - comes from wordsonthestreet books. His first collection 'What News, Centurions?' was published by New Binary Press. He won the Cúirt New Writing Prize in 2014 and was selected for Poetry Ireland Introductions in the same year. He has been commended in The Gregory O'Donoghue Prize. Colm's poems have been published in Southword, Poetry ireland Review, The Friday Poem, Howl, Cyphers, Crannóg, Abridged, Skylight 47, Burning Bush, Philosophy Now, The Stony Thursday Book, Consilence, New Isles Press and many others.

Poetry Film: Colm has made over thirty Poetry Films including collaboration with  Conor McManus, Mags Creedon, Sue Blue and  Anton Floyd. His films have been shown/shortlisted at festivals all over the world including Cork International, Fastnet Film Festival, IndyCork Film Festival, Slippery Elm Poetry Film Prize, Lyra Bristol Poetry Festival, Ó BhÄ—al Poetry Film Competition, 10th International Video Poetry Festival, Reel Poetry Houston, Carmarthen Bay Film Festival, Newlyn Film Festival and many more. He won 1st Prize at Spark Micromania Film Competition, Rabbits Heart Poetry Film Competition and Slippery Elm Deanna Tulley Prize.

Fiction: Colm's short stories have been published in From the Well, Cork County Libraries, The Honest Ulsterman and The Holly Bough.

Other: He has been an adjudicator at several poetry film competitions in Ireland and abroad, including organising the Drumshanbo Written Word Weekend Poetry Film Competition 2022 to 2025. 

Colm has given workshops on poetry film throughout Irealnd and at The Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh.

He is a board member of Ó Bhéal go Béal Poetry Events Cork.

His  films have been shown in The Glucksman Gallery, UCC Cork as part of a Digital Humanities international conference.
